Madrid, April 26 (IANS) European football governing body UEFA has put English referee Mark Clattenburg in-charge of the Champions League semifinals clash between Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The Englishman, born in 1975, gained international status in 2006 and has previously refereed games for both Bayern and Atletico, reports Efe.

Clattenburg refereed Atletico’s Champions League quarter-final match against PSV Eindhoven this season, which ended in a goalless draw and eventually Atletico won in penalty shootouts.

The match will take place at the Vicente Calderon stadium.
