Brampton, November 6 (CINEWS): Several musicians from Brampton and around the world will showcase the sounds and temperament of ancient musical instruments from India at a concert on 6th November at the Lester B. Pearson Theatre, 150 Central Park Dr., from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The concert called Sacred Sounds of Ancient India has been put together by students of the Raj Academy, a music school from the United Kingdom (U.K.), The event will include an exhibition of music, books and art.
The instruments — string and skin — were part of Sikh spiritual discourses some 500 years ago. Over time, however, they’ve vanished over the centuries. Now there is a move to revive this lost musical heritage and also to preserve the works of budding musicians who have mastered the instruments, said organizers.
