Melbourne, Jan.15 (ANI): Indian opener Rohit Sharma admitted that he has to continue his run-scoring spree in order to get his side to a good position in the second ODI of the series against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane on Friday.
Rohit smashed 13 boundaries and seven sixes in his unbeaten knock of 171 to push India to 309-3 in the opening ODI against Australia in Perth.
Talking about his performance, Rohit stressed that it was important for the batsman who is set to bat as much as possible in order to provide his side with a competitive score, News.com.au reported.
Rohit, who broke West Indies great Viv Richards’ record for highest ODI score against Australia , is now aiming to carry on with his good run in the Brisbane ODI as well.
The 28-year-old said that it would be a big responsibility on top-order batman to bat as much as they could especially after knowing the presence of few newcomers in the team.
India are currently trailing 0-1 in the five match series following the first Test against the hosts ended in a draw. (ANI)
