Congress keeps fingers crossed on Railway Budget

New Delhi, Feb. 25 (ANI): Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Mallikarajun Kharge, on Thursday avoided commenting on the Railway Budget for 2016-17, saying he would voice his opinion in this regard only after going through the same in detail.

“Let us see what he is going to give whether the people are going to get the bullet trains or not. Only after seeing the Budget, I can react,” Kharge told ANI.

“In the President’s speech, they said high-speed trains from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. So, what is the exact budget provision for that and whether the bullet train is going to help the poor people and is it affordable to the passengers we will see to that,” he added.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will present the Rail Budget for 2016-17 in Parliament today. This will be his second Rail Budget after assuming charge of the ministry.

Prabhu had earlier on Wednesday said that the Rail Budget would cater to the needs of all satisfactorily as a lot of effort has gone into its preparation.

He said it has been prepared in the interest of the nation and railways. Prabhu said he has taken the ground reality into consideration before finalising it. (ANI)
