New Delhi, Sept. 19 (ANI): The Congress Party on Saturday told the Central and the Delhi Governments to come out with an emergency action plan to contain the rising number of dengue deaths in the National Capital Region (NCR).
“We request both governments to come out with an emergency action plan. They are not making any arrangement for people to go through a compulsory dengue test for free,” Congress leader P C Chacko told ANI.
“Medicines are not available, beds are not there and hospitals are not admitting patients,” he claimed.
Rejecting the dengue death figure presented by the government as an “understatement”, Chacko said a large number of people were living in Delhi’s slums, and thus, the toll could be higher than what the government was showing.
“The fact remains that the civic bodies failed to take initial precautionary measures due to which the disease has spread to the extent that it has become uncontainable,” he added.
Two girls, aged three and nine, have become the latest victims of dengue in the city, taking the death toll to 16. (ANI)
