London, July 20 (ANI): England captain Alastair Cook has slammed his side’s lethargic batting display after losing the second Ashes Test against Australia by 405 runs on the fourth day at Lord’s.
Chasing a daunting target of 509, England were bundled out for a dismal 103 in mere 37 overs as Australia levelled the five-match series 1-1 in an imperious style.
None of the England’s top-order batsmen were able to cross the 30 run-mark as Stuart Broad was the top scorer for his side, with 25.
Describing his team’s batting performance as ‘unacceptable’, Cook said that it was not ideal in any circumstances in any team, insisting that it was well below their playing standard to get dismissed on that sort of wicket for 100, the BBC reported.
Cook also suggested that the selectors may have to bring in some changes at the top-order batting line-up for the rest of the series. (ANI)
