On hand to help with the kickoff were Councillor James Pasternak (Ward 10 York Centre), Chair of the City’s Community Development and Recreation Committee and event sponsors Nick Ametrano, Vice President, MonsterMortgage.ca and Puneet Khanna, Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Medical Pharmacies Group Limited.
The Toronto Challenge has raised over $10 million and is expected to add approximately half a million dollars more this year as the premier fundraising event for Toronto seniors. Funds raised through the walk/run are used by community agencies and long-term care homes to provide home support and independent living, renovation of seniors’ facilities, transportation services, wellness programs, home library services and more.
“The funds raised by the Toronto Challenge over the past 25 years have definitely made a difference in the lives of older Torontonians,” said Councillor Pasternak. “It’s uplifting to see families and people from all walks of life coming together in support of our city’s seniors.”
“MonsterMortgage.ca is proud to sponsor such a great, family-friendly event and we are pleased we are able to help improve the lives of seniors across Toronto,” said Ametrano.
“The Toronto Challenge offers something for everyone, encouraging people to get out, be active, stay healthy and have fun. The team at Medical Pharmacies is excited to walk in the event,” said Khanna.
This year’s event will be held on Sunday, June 12 at Metro Hall, 55 John St., and includes the MonsterMortgage.ca 5K run, the Medical Pharmacies 5K walk and 1K fun walk. This year also includes a 25th Anniversary Team Challenge – five team members each running 5K for the best combined time.
