Kolkata, Dec 17 (IANS) The CPI-M will be holding multiple rallies, road shows and street corner meetings across West Bengal, in a build-up to the party plenum beginning December 27 in the city, a party leader said here on Thursday.
Ahead of the 2016 assembly polls, the Communist Party of India-Marxist will be holding its organisational plenum from December 27 to 31 which will begin with a massive rally at the Brigade Parade ground.
“Around 456 representatives are coming from various states to participate in the plenum which will begin after the conclusion of the brigade rally,” party state committee member Rabin Deb told media persons.
“We will be holding rallies, public meetings, road shows and street corner meetings to reach out to the people across 77,247 booths in the state,” said Deb, asserting that the party was determined to make the rally a historic one.
Deb said the party will take out protest rallies across the state against the ruling Trinamool Congress on December 24, 25 and 26 and five street marches in the city on Sunday and simultaneously campaigns for the party plenum.
“The state leadership will take part in five ‘padyatras’ (marches) which will be taken out this Sunday across the city,” said Deb, adding that nine sub-committees have been set up to supervise the programmes for the build-up to the rally.
