Criminal wanted for robberies, murder held in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) An absconding criminal, having a Rs. one lakh reward on his head and wanted in several cases of extortion, murder, attempt to murder an INLD legislator in 2012, and robberies in Delhi and Haryana, was arrested on Tuesday, police said.

Virender Sehrawat alias Bholu, 28, was arrested from northwest Delhi’s Nangloi area. He was earlier arrested in 2012 for allegedly attempting to kill Najafgarh’s then Indian National Lok Dal legislator Bharat Singh.

“One 9mm pistol with four live cartridges and one country-made pistol along with three live cartridges were recovered from him,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav, adding that a stolen motorcycle that he was using was also seized.

“Sehrawat was released on parole in November last year. But he jumped it and was carrying a cash reward of Rs. 1 Lakh on his head,” Ranjan said.

Last month, Sehrawat’s friend Vikas Dagar was also arrested along with two others. He too had jumped parole in April this year.

A First Information Report for obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions, assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, attempt to murder), acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention were lodged against them, the officer said.
