Ghaziabad, Feb 21 (IANS) Moving swiftly, Ghaziabad police on Wednesday arrested two criminals soon after they robbed a man of his motorcycle and other belongings in the city.
The police said as the victim, Naresh Tomar, informed the control room that he had been robbed of his motorbike, mobile and purse in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad, a police team led by SHO Sahibabad Naresh Kumar Singh chased them through a narrow lane in the Rajendra Nagar area of the city.
When the robbers noticed that the police were following them, they started firing at the team, in which Sub-Inspector Anjani Singh received a gunshot injury. In retaliation, the police also opened fire.
In the exchange of fire, the robbers sustained bullet injuries in their legs and they were overpowered by the police team.
All the three injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and are said to be out of danger.
During the initial interrogation, the robbers confessed their crime and identified themselves as Tasleem alias Bhure, a resident of Old Seemapuri locality in Delhi, and Shahrukh of Garima Garden in Ghaziabad.
The police recovered a countrymade pistol and four cartridges from Tasleem and another pistol and the same number of cartridges from Shahrukh. They also recovered the snatched motorcycle, mobile phone and the purse of Tomar from the criminals.
During screening of their crime record, the police found 14 cases registered against Tasleem in different police stations of Delhi and Saharanpur, while seven cases were registered against Shahrukh in different police stations of Delhi.
