Dashcam records incident of dangerous driving

York Regional Police have identified the vehicle that was involved in an incident of dangerous driving that was captured on a dashcam in the City of Markham and is seeking witnesses to assist in identifying the driver.

Information was provided to officers regarding the license plate of the suspect vehicle featured in the video. The vehicle has been located and the owner of the vehicle has been identified, after releasing the dashcam footage to the media and posting to social media.  The vehicle featured in the video is confirmed to be a beige, 2004 Toyota Corolla.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are appealing to anyone that may be able to identify the person who was driving the vehicle  to please come forward and contact police.

On Monday, April 18, 2016, between noon and 1 p.m., a citizen’s dashcam captured video of a beige Toyota Corolla travelling at a high rate of speed eastbound on 16th Avenue, east of Markham Road, in front of Saint Brother Andre Catholic High School. The vehicle drove through a red light and proceeded eastbound in the westbound lanes, narrowly missing two cars that were stopped for the westbound red light.
