Debate, discussion and dialogue ‘soul of Parliament’: PM

New Delhi, Nov. 26 (ANI): Asserting that the Indian Constitution is a ray of hope, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said there is no bigger centre for having dialogue than the Parliament.

“There is no bigger centre for Samvad (dialogue) than the Parliament. Debate, discussion and dialogue are the soul of the Parliament. For rest of the works, the whole country is available,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his delight over the fact that all the opposition parties had given a positive response for a healthy debate and discussion in the Parliament.

“Yesterday, I had a meeting with all the leaders of the opposition parties. We had a very healthy discussion. All were of the opinion that the Parliament should work in a healthy way,” he said.

“Our Constitution is a ray of hope. When I say a ray of hope, I mean H for harmony, O for opportunity, P for people’s participation and E for equality. It illuminates our path ahead,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi further said the Winter Session of Parliament will have good debates, discussions and innovative ideas.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi greeted the people on the occasion of Constitution Day.

“This day is a tribute to all those great women & men who worked tirelessly to give India a Constitution we are very proud of,” he said in a tweet.

He also called on the people to uphold the ideals and values of the Constitution and create an India that will make the founding fathers proud.

Saluting the architect of the Constitution Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Prime Minister Modi said that no mention of the Constitution was complete without remembering the former’s stellar contribution. (ANI)
