Defender Cabral gets Spanish citizenship

Vigo (Spain), Oct 30 (IANS) Spanish football club Celta Vigo’s defender Gustavo Cabral, who was born in Argentina, has obtained Spanish citizenship and will no longer count as a foreign player on the roster.

The 30-year-old Cabral joined the squad from Levante in the 2012-2013 season and has played more than 100 matches for Vigo, a city in the northwestern region of Galicia, Celta said in a statement on Thursday, reports Efe.

Cabral’s contract with the Galician team ends on June 30, 2016, but the club included a clause in the deal that gives it the option to unilaterally renew the contract.
