Delhi Police arrests main accused in Shastri Nagar triple murder case

New Delhi, Sept. 28 (ANI): The Delhi Police on Monday arrested a person in connection with a murder case in Sarai Basti area of Shastri Nagar in the national capital.

The 25-year-old, Mithlesh Mahto, is accused of killing the entire family comprising of old age couple and their thirty years old son.

The accused was living in the same house as a tenant and killed the entire family with a motive of revenge and robbery.

When police reached the spot on September 25 after a PCR call, they found the lock broken and things scattered around the house. After entering the house they found dead bodies of a 70-year-old male (Chandu Lal), a 65-years old woman and a 30-year-old male (Rakesh).

All the three bodies had injuries on their neck which were inflicted by a sharp edged weapon.

Thereafter, an FIR was filed and the case was taken up by Inspector Sahib Singh Lakra. A team of competent police officers was also formed to investigate the case.

Several rounds of interrogations of the tenants and neighbours were carried out in a bid to solve the case.

The investigations finally revealed that the land-lord, Chandu lal’s son Rakesh had earlier beaten up Mahto (accused) after an argument over money. Mahto had then pledged to avenge this and went to his native village at Khagriya in Bihar.

Upon his return, he met Rakesh and offered him a cold drink laced with sedative. When Rakesh fainted, Mahto tied Rakesh’s hands and slit his throat with a sharp knife.

Mahto, said during the investigation, that he had to kill the old couple because they had spotted Rakesh with him. (ANI)
