Mississauga, March 11 (CINEWS): Representatives from the taxi industry are cheering the action the City of Mississauga has taken to suspend Uber,
The general committee made the decision to suspend the popular ride-sharing program on March 2. But now many wonder if Uber drivers would flout the suspension and they just coud because there is no clear plan to enforce it. No staff has been assigned to monitor compliance.
There are penalties that can be enforced by police or city bylaw officers.
Uber on its part has not made any promises to suspend operations until the City of Mississauga amends its bylaws against “transportation network carriers.”
Meanwhile the taxi industry may soon realize that their good cheer could well be short lived as it is a matter of time before Uber finds a way to work things out with the City of Mississauga.
