Jammu, Nov 24 (IANS) A team of aviation experts from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday arrived in Katra town near Jammu to investigate Monday’s helicopter crash in which seven people were killed.
“An investigating team of the DGCA arrived at the helicopter crash site in Katra town today (Tuesday) to undertake investigation of the crash,” a district administration official told IANS in Reasi district.
Seven people — six pilgrims to the Vaishno Devi shrine and the pilot of Himalayan Heli Services — died in the crash on Monday.
The chopper that took off from Sanjichhat helipad near the shrine crashed before it could land at the Katra Bus Stand helipad from where it had originally taken off with the pilgrims.
Initial reports said the crash was caused by a bird hit.
