Dholpur Palace row: BJP accuses Congress of misleading people

New Delhi, June 30 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday hit back at Congress leader Jairam Ramesh over his remark that there was a ‘criminal nexus’ between her family and former IPL boss Lalit Modi and questioned the grand old party’s silence about the document under which Kesar Bagh Palace got swapped with the Dholpur Palace.

BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh said it is the Congress’ habit to give out half-truths and mislead the people of this country.

“The Congress press conference is a half truth and the half truth is a habit of Congress because they wish to be in politics by lying and misleading the people of the country. They spoke about the 1949 document, but kept silent about the subsequent document under which the Kesar Bagh palace got swapped with the Dholpur palace,” Singh told ANI here.

“If they had spoken about it, the truth would have come out that because of the swap, Dushyant Singh’s ancestors got the property of the city Dholpur and then subsequently led into a settlement in 2007. These are the facts. But what Jairam Ramesh has done today is that he has said that 500 metres of the palace fetched a price of two crores. Now, if 500 metres can fetch a price of two crores, then the entire city palace as an investment to make into five star or a seven star can definitely fetch 100 crores,” he added.

The Congress Party had earlier accused Raje’s son Dushyant Singh of taking compensation money for the Dholpur Palace, a government property.

Ramesh released some fresh documents including one of 1949 which showed that the Dholpur Palace was owned by the Rajasthan Government.

He also accused Raje of illegally occupying the Dholpur Palace along with former IPL chief Lalit Modi through a private company. (ANI)
