Director Neeraj Pandey will make sequel of ‘Special 26’

Neeraj Pandey, who made his directoral debut in ‘A Wednesday’, which was largely praised by audiences as well as critics and which later became a recipient of many accolades.

Recently, Neeraj Pandey directed ‘Aiyaary’, which will hit the floors on February 16.

Now, Neeraj’s team has registered a couple of titles for the sequel like Special 2019, Special 2020, Special 2021 and Special 2022.

Since the release year is yet not fixed, the production house registered more than one title and will pick one as soon as the plans are finalised.

Earlier in January, sources cropping up between Neeraj and Akshay.

The source was saying, “The two have fallen out over financial issues. Their proposed fourth film together, Crack which was to be made and released on Independence Day last year, has also been shelved.”

When Neeraj was asked if Special 26 sequel has Akshay in the lead, he replied, “I won’t be able to comment on that. I don’t have any clue about it.”

‘Special 26’, is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language period heist thriller film directed by Neeraj Pandey.

The film is inspired by the 1987 Opera House heist where a group posing as Central Bureau of Investigation officers executed an income tax raid on the jeweler in Mumbai.

The film stars Akshay Kumar in the lead protagonist role with Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Jimmy Shergill and Divya Dutta in supporting roles.–CINEWS
