Karachi, March.9 (ANI): Pressure on Pakistan continues to mount as there have been reports of a rift between head coach Waqar Younis and skipper Shahid Afridi as well as the differences between the top officials among the country’s cricket board.
According to the Dawn, Waqar was disappointed with the working of the national selectors as well as Afridi.
The 45-year-old was reportedly saddened by the skipper because he missed two practice sessions during the recently-concluded Asia Cup and over some selection matters.
Meanwhile, Afridi was not happy with former tainted skipper Salman Butt’s return in the national T20 squad. He said that the decision was taken without his knowledge.
One well-informed Source told that Afridi had earlier told the board that he would not like to play if Butt would be included in the squad.
The source further revealed that the players were not happy with the way he was overworking the players without letting them to relax.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had delayed the departure of the women and men’s national cricket team to India for the World T20 to India citing security concerns.
Pakistan are scheduled to play their opening match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata in March 16 (ANI)
