Johannesburg, Jan.18 (ANI): World number one Novak Djokovic has backed Andy Murray’s decision to quit Australian Open if his wife goes into labour, saying he absolutely understands the position and will do the same if situation arises.

The Serbian, who became a father for the first time 15 months ago, insisted that it was a very sensitive issue and everybody should respect Murray’s decision, Sport24 reported.

Lavishing praise on Murray, Djokovic said that the 28-year-old had played quite well last season and is one of the favourites to win the title.

Earlier, world number two Scottish professional had said that he would not hesitate to pull out from the first major of the season to be with his wife Kim Sears to attend the birth of their first child. (ANI)
