Melbourne, Feb. 02 (ANI): World number one Novak Djokovic has insisted that Rafael Nadal still remains the major stumbling block on his road towards completing a career grand slam at the upcoming French Open.
The Serbian continued his red-hot form in his straight sets win over Andy Murray in the Australian Open final on Sunday. It was his sixth title at Melbourne Park and thereby increased his Grand Slam tally to 11.
Last year, Djokovic saw his dreams of completing a career Grand Slam crushed by Stan Wawrinka at Roland Garros.
However, Djokovic maintained that Nadal ‘absolutely’ remains his greatest threat on clay-court, News.com.au reported.
The 28-year-old further said that Nadal is the king of clay, pointing to the Spaniard’s nine French Open titles. Djokovic will start as the hot French Open favourite, while Nadal appears on the decline after failing to win a major title last year for the first time in a decade.
Djokovic will become the eighth man in men’s tennis history to complete a career grand slam if he is able to clinch the elusive title in Paris. (ANI)
