Karachi, Mar.21 (ANI): Following Pakistan’s heart wrenching defeat at the hands of arch-rival India in the World T20 clash at Eden Gardens, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan has called on his countrymen not to expect much from the team in the ongoing tournament.
Pakistan on Saturday suffered a six-wicket loss at the hands of the hosts, which was their 11th overall defeat against India in the World T20s and the World Cups.
Pointing out at the team’s failure in claiming wickets against Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s side, Shahryar lashed out at the inclusion of fast bowler Mohammad Sami in the playing XI and said it would have been better if Shahid Afridi would have gone in with a spinner, the Express Tribune reported.
Expressing his views on head coach Waqar Younis, the 81-year-old said that the latter’s contract would end in June and that the board would rethink whether to sustain him or not.
The 2009 World T20 champions will now lock horns with New Zealand at the Punjab Cricket Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday. (ANI)
