New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS) DSK Shivajians-Liverpool International Football Academy (LIFA) lost to Brazilian side Clube Atletico Paranaense 1-2 in their Subroto Cup encounter at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday.
After taking the lead in the second half through Laldawngkima, DSK Shivajians-LIFA were unable to build upon the goal as Pedro Ramos and Lucas Emmanuel over-turned the score-line with a quick-fire double for the encounter to end 1-2 in the favor of the Brazilians.
DSK Shivajians-LIFA flattered to deceive after taking the lead twelve minutes into the second half as Clube Atletico Paranaense, coming on back of a mammoth 11-0 victory over Mohun Bagan AC, bounced back with two goals in the space of three minutes to steal the match from the Pune-based team’s grasp.
Playing their second match, DSK Shivajians-LIFA started the match on the front foot as Omkar More broke inside Clube’s 18 yard box from the flank in the fourth minute and unleashed a powerful shot which was punched away by the goalkeeper.
A sturdy performance from the defence and quick movement upfront was the highlight of DSK Shivajians-LIFA’s first half display as both teams went into the dressing rooms level at the half time whistle.
DSK Shivajians-LIFA were even more ambitious at the beginning of the second half. Their determination was rewarded in the 47th minute when a free kick taken by the skipper Malsawmtluanga was flicked towards Omkar in the six-yard box who guided it towards Laldawngkima to slot the ball home for the lead.
Moments later, DSK Shivajians-LIFA strolled forward in search for another goal to take the game out of Clube Atletico Paranaense’s reach as attempts from Omkar and Seigoumang Doungle went wide off target.
In the 51st minute, the Brazilians equalized through Pedro Ramos, who guided the ball in the back of the net after getting on to the end of a cross. Two minutes later, Clube Atletico Paranaense took the lead after Lucas Emmanuel headed the ball in the net after reaching it first from a corner kick.
DSK Shivajians-LIFA tried to force the issue in the dying minutes of the match, but were contained by a physical Brazilian defence, which denied them any points from the encounter.
