Another free dating app, aimed at South Asian singles has been launched. Named ‘Dus’ or Ten, the Canadian app appeals to South Asian singles to break free from traditional ideas or marriage and love and try modern dating techniques in a safe manner.
Other similar apps have got a bad rap, because they tend to conjure images of one-night stands and temporary hook-up, which do not go well with the South Asian psyche. Also, such apps are known for women getting unsolicited messages, bordering on the lewd. Also, the Dus app site clearly indicates that is not a ‘Shaadi’ site.
Shawn Sheikh, CEO of Dus, says: “Some dating apps are coined as ‘hookupy’ while others are seen as more marriage-oriented. This app puts emphasis on social and cultural considerations.” It also apparently allow users to input their own specifications with special filters.
Shawn is the Co-Founder of Dus, Inc. where he is in charge of business development and Growth Hack, accumulating thousands of users at an almost $0 customer acquisition cost. Dus is also backed by some of Silicon Valley and Silicon Beach’s top investors and advisors.
Dus says: “Everyday at noon we show you interesting and like-minded people for you to choose from. When you match with someone, you get 10 (Dus) days to chat and plan a fun date! Starting a conversation is challenging. You can use the free games on Dus to break the ice.”
Indo-Canadian comedian Jus Reign is Dus’s Chief Content Officer, a role which he took after he released a parody video of ‘The Brown Tinder’ catching the attention of Shawn and the other co-developers.
Logging requires a Facebook account. But there is a hidden mode feature which hides you from friends and family on the app… “You don’t worry about aunties finding out!” Dus is available on Google Play and Apple Store. – CINEWS
