London, July 16 (ANI): Dustin Johnson produced a top-notch performance on Thursday to outshine Grand Slam-chasing Jordan Spieth by firing a seven-under-par 65 on the opening day of the Open Championship at St Andrews.
Johnson is currently leading a group that includes Scotland’s 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie by one shot, the BBC reported.
Spieth, the reigning Masters and US Open champion, is trailing by two shots after posting a five-under-par 67 on the Scottish east coast.
Meanwhile, former world number Tiger Woods began his Old Course campaign on a miserable note after carding an unimpressive four-over-par 76. (ANI)
