Dwarka plane crash: BSF announces Rs 20 lakh for deceased family

New Delhi, Dec.22 (ANI): Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Devendra Kumar Pathak on Tuesday said ministry of civil aviation and the BSF are conducting enquiries to know the reason of the plane crash in the national capital adding that the BSF family members will get Rs 20 Lakhs from BSF’s internal insurance fund in addition to what the government announces.

“Family members of the deceased will get 20 lakh rupees from BSF ‘s internal insurance fund in addition to what government announces. There will be a wreath laying ceremony for the deceased at four p.m. today,” Pathak told ANI in an exclusive interview here.

Pathak further said it is too premature to know the reason of crash.

“It is too premature to know the reason of crash. Ministry of civil aviation and also BSF are conducting enquiries respectively,” Pathak said.

“We have a heavy base in Ranchi, one of the helicopter developed a technical snag there , so team of six engineers was going to rectify the snag . Just few minutes after the take off plane crashed, our resources at DGCA and other authorities were activated , all the 10 members on-board lost their lives,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed grief and distress at the loss of lives in the Border Security Force (BSF) plane crash in the national capital.

“Pained by the loss of lives in the BSF plane crash in Delhi. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased,” Prime Minister Modi said in a tweet.

All the ten passengers onboard were killed after a Ranchi-bound BSF Superking aircraft crashed at Bagdola village in Sector 8, Dwarka here in the national capital on Tuesday morning. (ANI)
