Wellington (New Zealand), Apr. 6(ANI): An earthquake of magnitude 6.9 has struck near the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu.
The earthquake struck 109 km west-south-west of Sola, Vanuatu, at 6.58 pm (NZT) at a depth of 33.7 km, stuff.co.nz quoted the US Geological Survey (USGS), as saying.
Meanwhile, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre has not issued any tsunami warning.
“Based on all available data a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected,” stuff.co.nz quoted the centre as saying.
A similar quake had struck the same area on Sunday but caused no damage. (ANI)
