Eating Disorder Hope is excited to announce the launch of its 2016 Pro-Recovery Movement. The Pro-Recovery Movement promotes hope and healing while providing a sense of community, acceptance, and understanding for those in eating disorder recovery. This serves as a positive alternative to harmful pro-eating disorder communities that often promote disordered eating and related behaviors.
Resources available through the Pro-Recovery Movement include informative self-help tools, such as “Coping Skills 101,” “Ten Commandments for the Recovering Perfectionist,” and “How to Become a Self-Care Ninja.” Community members can get involved in this interactive movement by recording inspirational VLOGS highlighting their own recovery stories, submitting empowering quotes for the Pro-Recovery Movement Member Quotes page, or joining Eating Disorder Hope’s private Facebook group for those in recovery.
Eating Disorder Hope is proud to partner with National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), Proud2BMe,Project HEAL, Multi-Service Eating Disorders Association (MEDA), and Eating Disorders Coalition (EDC) for this launch. These non-profit partners have joined the Pro-Recovery Movement because they recognize the great need for communities that bring those in recovery together while combatting pro-eating disorder websites.
All partners will be co-hosting a Pro-Recovery Twitter Chat with Eating Disorder Hope (@EDhope) on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. PST. This is a great opportunity for Pro-Recovery Movement members to connect with the Eating Disorder Hope team and our non-profit partners to share their own stories and get involved.
Community members are also invited to participate in the Eating Disorder Hope Pinterest Contest, which runs from July 15, 2016, to August 31, 2016. Participants are asked to create a new Eating Disorder Hope Pro-Recovery Movement board and pin their favorite images related to eating disorder recovery. The winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card and a permanent listing of their board on Eating Disorder Hope.
All individuals in any stages of recovery are encouraged to join Eating Disorder Hope’s Pro-Recovery Movement to connect with others and share their voice with the community.
