A man police are describing as “elderly” was mugged on Wednesday around noon after he withdrew money from a Brampton ATM.
Police say the man had just taken cash out of an ATM at Centennial Mall on Kennedy Road North and was putting it into his wallet around noon. A man approached, grabbed the cash, and ran.
The victim was not hurt. He drove to 22 Division on Hurontario Street to report the robbery.
There is no description of the suspect available, according to police, and a police spokesperson could not give an exact age for the victim right away.
“This is so cowardly,” said Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick. “This is appalling that somebody would do this and they should be ashamed.”
It is important to be aware of your surroundings when withdrawing money at deserted ATM machines. It is better to find another than take a risk of being mugged.
