Emraan Hashmi was all set to star in Captain Nawab which will be directed by Tony D’Souza.
The film deals with the life of a double agent working between India and Pakistan and the troubles he falls into when the two countries find out of his betrayals.
While the film deals with a man in uniform, several permissions are required before the film goes on floor.
Owing to the plot, the armed forces have raised a question and the cast now awaits a clearance on the film.
The director said, Yes, we have sent the script to the Ministry of Defence. We are awaiting their clearance to proceed with the shoot. Anyone who makes a film on the army doesn’t do it with an intention to hurt anyone’s sentiment.”
He further said, “We have a lot of respect for the Indian Armed Forces. We had finished our first schedule, but we will shoot portions of the film featuring the Indian Army now.”
“So, we needed the Ministry to give us a No Objection Certificate. It should come either by the end of this month or in the first week of March. Then, we would be good to go,” director added.
