Though he is a persona non grata in Bollywood, Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is keen to work in a B-town movie.
Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal is hoping to produce a movie film on Indo-Pak relations with Khan as its protagonist.
According to Indian media reports, the movie titled ‘Ye Raste Hain Pyar Ke’, will be a cross-border story of two musicians who set out on a tour of both the countries and discover themselves in the course of the journey.
Fawad Khan is still in talks to work in a movie. “At the moment, he is skeptical about reactions to him working in an Indo-Pak co-production. He has shown a keen interest and will respond as soon as the present situation cools down. We are hoping he agrees to play the lead musician in the film,” the producers told a paper.
Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ have been facing wrath for casting Pakistani actors in the movie. However, Benegal feels this is the best time to plan a movie on such a theme.
While on one hand some Indians feel mixing art with politics is not justified, others feel other way around.
Another film maker sympathetic to Pakistan actors working in Bollywood Mahesh Bhatt will serve as the creative advisor of the film as he believes this idea has immense possibilities and it affirms life in a very elementary way. He will be joined by the Pakistani writer-artist Salima Hashmi, daughter of Faiz Ahmed Faiz. – CINEWS
