Federer outclasses Berdych to reach Australian Open semis

Johannesburg, Jan. 26 (ANI): World number three Roger Federer remained on course for his fifth Australian Open title after defeating sixth seed Tomas Berdych in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion overcame Berdych 7-6(4), 6-2, 6-4 to advance to his 39th major semifinal, Sport24 reported.

With the win, 34-year-old Federer became the oldest man since 1979 to reach the Australian Open semifinals and will next face either top seed Novak Djokovic or Kei Nishikori. (ANI)
