FIFA still paying banned Blatter

London, Jan.19 (ANI): A revelation has come out that outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter has still being receiving his president’s salary despite being banned from world football for eight years.

The disgraced FIFA boss, who was suspended for 90 days on October 8 by the world football governing body, was then handed an eight-year suspension from all football-related activities last month.

The 79-year-old, as revealed by an international news agency, will continue to be paid until a new president is elected on February 26, the Mirror reported.

The revelation only shows that he would have been paid for nearly five months during which he was unable to perform his duties.

In this period, FIFA has appointed African soccer head Issa Hayatou as the acting president.

However, the compensation sub-committee of FIFA’s Audit and Compliance Committee ruled that it Blatter’s bonuses could be stopped, but according to the contract, his salary could not be stopped.

A FIFA spokesman said that until the election of a new president on February 26, Blatter, who is the elected president, is entitled to receive his remuneration according to his contract. (ANI)
