FIR against Amitabh Thakur will send wrong message, says Congress

New Delhi, July 12 (ANI): The Congress Party on Sunday said that the FIR registered against senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who had lodged a police complaint against Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him with dire consequences, would send a wrong message to the country.

“I don’t think Mulayam Singh Yadav would threaten to kill anyone. This is not possible. He is a very senior leader. But the FIR that has been lodged against Amitabh Thakur now, whether it is factual would send a wrong message to the country,” he told ANI.

The Lucknow Police has lodged an FIR against the senior IPS on a complaint made by a Ghaziabad-based woman last year in which she had accused him of raping her and his wife of helping him in the act. (ANI)
