Colombo, Feb.18 (ANI): Sri Lanka skipper Lasith Malinga, who missed the New Zealand series due to injury, has been named as the skipper of the 15-man squad announced for the upcoming Asia Cup and the World Twenty20 in India.

Besides Malinga, vice-captain Angelo Mathews has recovered from groin injury and will feature in both the events alongside veteran left-arm spinner Rangana Herath and seamer Nuwan Kulasekara,ESPNcricinfo reported.

Sri Lanka, however, dumped rookie seamer Kasun Rajitha despite his brilliant display during his side’s five-wicket win against India in the opening ODI of the recently-concluded three-match series, which the hosts went on to win by 2-1.

The Asia Cup is slated to be held in Bangladesh from February 24 followed by the T20 pinnacle event in India, starting from March 8.
