Jorhat (Assam), April 3 (ANI): The Jorhat district administration in Assam has formed female poll parties to conduct elections at five booths.
All officers, including the presiding officer and the polling officer will be women.
As the Jorhat will go to polls in the first phase on April 4, Officers of the district administration have made all necessary arrangements for conducting a free and fair election across the district.
The Jorhat Assembly constituency has 1,59,958 voters, followed by Dergaon (1,44,363 voters), Titabor (1,33,450 voters), Teok (1,17,084 voters), Majuli (1,14,015 voters) and Mariyani (1,04,0,3400 voters).
Out of the 7, 72,904 eligible voters, 3, 94,118 are male and 3,78,786 are female.
The Election Commission of India has installed three new softwares to help voters lodge online complaints about scarcity of basic amenities at polling stations and also highlight the illegal activities committed of both politicians and officials.
Assam has a total of one crore 98 lakh voters. The Election Commission has announced two-phase voting for the 14th assembly elections in the state on April 4 and 11. Votes will be counted on May 19.
The tenure of the Tarun Gogoi led- Congress government ends in June. (ANI)
