Following April riots, Baltimore mayor sacks city’s police chief

London, July 9 (ANI): Baltimore’s police chief has been sacked by the city’s mayor as his leadership became a distraction from fighting a ‘crime surge’.

According to BBC, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said that Police Commissioner Anthony Batts will be replaced by his deputy Kevin Davis, for an interim period.

In April, Baltimore was rocked by riots after a black man, Freddie Gray, died in police custody following injuries.

Six officers were charged over the death of the 25-year-old. (ANI)
