A Vancouver radio station announced on Monday that it had confirmed that UBC student Vivek Pandher, 22, died after attending the Paradiso Music Festival in Washington State late last month. It added that the coroner believes his death was related to heat.
Meanwhile, the Tribune newspaper of Punjab reported from Ludhiana that Pandher “was a budding photographer, video director, a guitarist and a creative writer, who had just completed his engineering study from the University of British Colombia.”
The report said: “He was well-known in Ludhiana as he was one of the artists who introduced graffiti in the city” and “he used to run a music band “Zonks.””
It added: “Vivek also displayed his photography in an exhibition.”
The report said: “Vivek did still photography with some Punjabi movies and assisted a renowned filmmaker recently in Canada.
“Vivek’s father Jaswant Singh Zafar is a renowned poet and prose writer.”
A Facebook page set up for him in B.C. reads: “The last rites of Vivek Pandher will be taking place at 3 pm on 11th July 2015 (Saturday) at Five Rivers Funeral Home, 7410 Hopcott Rd, Delta …
“If you were his friend, or knew him, kindly join us in his cremation ceremony.
“After last rituals there will be a special gathering at Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara 8115 132 St, Surrey.”
