Former Navy Chief R.H. Tahiliani passes away

New Delhi, Oct. 14 (ANI): Former Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral (Retd) Radhakrishna Hariram Tahiliani passed away here today.

Admiral (Retd) Tahiliani served as the 13th Chief of the Naval Staff from December 1, 1984 until November 30, 1987. After retirement, he also served as the Governor of Sikkim.

The Admiral had commanded the carrier borne squadron INAS 300 during the Indo – Pak war in 1971.

His distinguished career included command of INS Trishul and the Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant.

His commands included those as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-IN-C) of the Western Naval Command, FOC-IN-C of the Southern Naval Command and Flag Officer Commanding of the Western Fleet (FOCWF). A carrier-based aircraft pilot, he also served as the commanding officer of the aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. (ANI)
