On Saturday, December 7, Canadians everywhere are welcome to saunter into their local Cineplex theatre to enjoy a morning of festive fun and free movies. For many it may be their first time in years.
For this year’s Community Day, Cineplex has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures Canada to offer a lineup of classic holiday flicks for movie-lovers of all ages, including “A Christmas Story,” “Elf,” “Gremlins,” “The Polar Express” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
Guests can also enjoy popular concession items like popcorn, soft drinks and select candy for just $2.50 each, with all proceeds from donations and select concession sales supporting Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, a child and youth organization which provides vital programs and services to over 200,000 young people across Canada.
“We have a long history at Cineplex of giving back to our local communities and have proudly contributed millions of dollars to non-profit organizations across the country,” said Ellis Jacob, president and CEO of Cineplex. “This year, we are excited to host our ninth annual Community Day fundraiser in support of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and their work in creating opportunities for children and youth across the country to connect, learn, play and have fun.”
On December 7, participating Cineplex theatres across Canada — including Cineplex Cinemas Courtney Park, Cineplex Cinemas Mississauga and SilverCity Brampton Cinemas — will open their doors for Community Day at 9 a.m., with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Showtimes will begin at 9:30 a.m. and locations will return to regular programming in the afternoon. Films will be screened in English and French, depending upon the location, a list of participating locations and show times can be found at the Cineplex website Cineplex.com/CommunityDay. -CINEWS
