London, July 26 (ANI): After opening fire on a car that tried to crash through barricades erected ahead of the Tour de France in Paris, French police is reportedly looking for the driver, who pulled off the act.
According to reports, the car first hit a parked vehicle in the Place de la Concorde and then in an attempt to speed away, it passed through a police cordon that was being put in place ahead of the final lap of the tour. Cops opened fire on the car to stop it but it drove away, the BBC reported.
The incident took place on the Champs-Elysees at about 8.00 am local time.
There was no exchange of fire and the driver could have been a ‘reveller’ driving home from a night out.
A police official said that there was no suggestion of terrorism as a motive.
Tour de France race Director Thierry Gouvenou said that he did not foresee any impact on the race. (ANI)
