Gas explosion kills two in Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, Oct 18 (IANS) Two people were killed and three others injured in a gas explosion at a restaurant in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, the media reported.

The explosion took place while a gas cylinder was being changed at the restaurant, Xinhua news agency reported.

The 43-year-old owner and her 13-year-old daughter were killed in the accident.

Vietnam experienced 2,342 fires and explosions that left 70 people dead and and 245 others injured in the first nine months of this year, according to the country’s general statistics office.

The total property losses of the fires and explosions reached $37.1 million.
