Saharsa, Oct.16 (ANI): The family of Indian girl Geeta expressed happiness over locating her in Pakistan after a period of thirteen years. They had, the family said, given up hope of getting her back .
Speaking to ANI, Geeta’s father said, “We tried a lot to find our daughter but our all attempts failed. We thought she had died and will never come back us. We were surprised when we saw our daughter on TV. We are very happy that she is coming back to us.”
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that 23-year-old Indian girl Geeta who mysteriously ended up in Pakistan would be handed over to the family after a DNA test.
The incident came to light after the release of Salman Khan starrer ‘Bajrangi Bhaijan’ earlier this year, which narrated a similar story.
Pakistani human rights activist Ansar Burney was trying to locate Geeta’s parents in India for years.
Geeta, now 21, was found by the Pakistan Rangers 13 years ago, sitting alone on the Samjhauta Express in Lahore that had come across the Wagah border.
She was taken to the Edhi Foundation, Pakistan’s largest charity home.(ANI)
