Germany’s benchmark DAX index closes up

Frankfurt, Sep 17 (IANS) The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday closed up slightly at 10,227.21 points.

Investors are still split on whether the US Federal Reserve will act with regard to the rate hike, which is so far the greatest concern of the market. The blue-chip index added 39.08 points, or 0.38 percent, Xinhua reported.

The sports company adidas AG advanced by 2.22 percent. Beiersdorf Aktiengesellschaft, a skin care company, added 1.93 percent. SAP SE climbed by 1.7 percent.

Infineon Technologies AG, a semi-conductor company, rose by 1.34 percent and Continental AG went up by 1.19 percent.

The two utilities companies E.ON SE and RWE AG St dropped significantly by 6.39 percent and 4.78 percent respectively. Commerzbank AG lost 0.84 percent. Deutsche Bank AG plunged by 0.73 percent.

The turnover stood at 3.63 billion euros (around $4.1 billion). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 314.78 million euros (around $355.7 million).
