Govind Padmasoorya, popularly known as GP who is a television presenter is making his debut in Tamil with a Jiiva-starrer titled Kee, which is directed by Kalees.
“The movie has a pacy script that had me excited from the word go. I play the anti-hero in the film and it’s a meaty role. Also, I am glad I will get to work with Jiiva,” Padmasoorya says, adding that he will join the sets by the end of this month.
So far he has been choosy about his movie projects.
The actor, who opened a new chapter in his career after his success on television has been taking it slow in the film industry with just three movies in the last three years.
The actor, who was last seen in the horror-comedy Pretham, says, “I had been listening to a lot of scripts lately – both in Malayalam and Tamil. But the priority for me was to collaborate with a good team. That’s when this project came to me.”
The movie also has Nikki Galrani, RJ Balaji, Suhasini and Rajendran as part of the cast. “It’s got an urban setting. It’s a big movie with my schedule extending till November. I am not at liberty to give out more details at the moment,” he added.
Govind made his debut in Malayalam cinema as the protagonist in Atayalangal, directed by M. G. Sasi. The film was based on the life and literature of the writer Nandanar. The film won five Kerala State Film Awards including Best Film.
Next, he portrayed the role of Vinu, the brother of the IG (Suresh Gopi) in B. Unnikrishnan’s IG, who transforms from a loving brother to a ruthless terrorist towards the end of the movie.
He was also cast as Sreekanth, the Indian cricketer, in Daddy Cool. – CINEWS
