New Delhi, Sept 9 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday expressed confidence that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill would be implemented by April 1, 2016.
“I would like to see the GST being implemented by 1st April,” Jaitley said while speaking at the Economist India Summit here.
Talking about the obstructions from the opposition, he said that the Congress might succeed in hurting India and its economy by further derailing the bill for some time.
Jaitley, however, did not disclose how the government will push the GST Bill as the ruling NDA does not have majority in the Rajya Sabha.
The Finance Minister further said that India must focus on reforms if it wants its economy to grow at a rapid pace.
“Factors like slow growth rate, high volatility should not cease it from achieving its tag of the fastest growing economy,” he added. (ANI)
