Sydney, Nov.3 (ANI): New Zealand opener Martin Guptill has turned to batting great Martin Crowe for advice as he and his partner Tom Latham are looking forward to strengthen their side when they will take on Australia in the upcoming three-match Test series.
Crowe had played one of the greatest knocks in Gabba history, contributing 188 to his side’s victory.
Speaking on his conversation with Crowe, Guptill said that Crowe told him not to be intimidated by the foreign bounce, adding that there is still a need to gain knowledge about the Gabba pitch.
Guptill said that his preparation is not enough to face New Zealand bowler Mitchell Starc, who has a very quick yorker and other balls in his collections, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Meanwhile, Latham said Guptill and he are looking forward to score enough runs to avoid burden on the players in the middle order.
Describing his game plan, Latham said he would try hard to bat for as long as possible.
New Zealand are all set to renew their trans-Tasman rivalry with Australia, with the first of the three-match Test series starting at the Gabba on Thursday.(ANI)
