Director Hansal Mehta has called Manoj Bajpayee’s acclaimed portrayal of Professor Siras in his 2015-directorial venture ‘Aligarh’ as the actor’s finest performance by far.
Talking at the Kashish Film Festival, Mehta said that Aligarh was Manoj Bajpyee’s one of the finest performances ever. He also says that perhaps it was the best performances of the year. Unquestionably it was a difficult character.”
As per a report by Indian Express, Mehta added, “Difficult in the sense, my brief to him was: ‘you’re a lonely man’. To portray loneliness, to actually be in that space without the support of dialogues or too many props, without any physical activity, to just be in that stillness and yet create such immense empathy, that is a triumph, that’s a great actor at work.”
