Srinagar, Ja.23 (ANI): The Army and Jammu and Kashmir state police on Saturday jointly busted a module of militant outfit Harkat-ul-Mujahideen that had been tasked to carry out attacks on security forces in north Kashmir areas.
According to a Zonal Police Headquarters spokesman, five members of the module were arrested after Sopore Police and 52-Rashtriya Rifles Unit nabbed two militants of Sopore and Baramulla, from Sangrama area in Baramulla along with recovery of some arms and ammunition.
The investigation later led to the arrest of three more associates, two of them are residents of Baramulla and one belongs to Srinagar. The police said that these young militants were handled by a local militant and one Sajad Shaheen alias Sajad Afghani from Pakistan.
The spokesman said some of the members of this module were involved in grenade attacks on police and para military bunkers and posts in several areas in Srinagar.
The spokesman added that militant module had also planned to carry out grenade attacks on Police, security forces and VVIPs on Srinagar Baramulla highway besides attacks in Baramulla and Sopore areas in north Kashmir. (ANI)
