Gurgaon, Aug 3 (IANS) Haryana Agriculture Minister Om Prakash Dhankar on Wednesday said that the BJP government in the state is implementing Swaminathan Commission recommendations step by step.

“we have increased the compensation for crop damage due to natural calamities or disasters in order to provide relief to farmers. The commission has recommended steps to increase the income of farmers and hence we are motivating them to adopt floriculture, horticulture, dairying etc.,” he told the media here.

He said some people were stuck with the name of Swaminathan Commission only but had not tried to understand its recommendations.

The BJP government is developing 54 of the 108 agricultural markets in Haryana as e-mandis, to enable farmers sell their produce at higher rates in the international market.
